Cleaning Up or Cleaning In?

You can’t clean your personality
and perhaps that is society’s one fatality.
You can wash away your dirt,
but that can’t take away the hurt.
Maybe, to clean up you have to clean in.

Imperfections aren’t washable,
and troubles aren’t tossable.
So put down the hand sanitizer,
forget the germ minimizer.
Maybe, to clean up you have to clean in.

Turn off the sink,
step down from the brink.
You need to focus on the pros,
leaving behind your thoughts of woes.
Maybe, to clean up you have to clean in.

You must accept the flaws as true,
the most unwanted parts are really, just you.
Like a stain never going away,
forget about grabbing the germ-x spray…
Maybe, to clean up you have to clean in.

We start by acknowledging our sin,
and moving forward to win,
because we are pushing out the dark letting the light in…
Maybe, to clean up we have to clean in.
